The Third Gallery Aya is pleased to announce a weekly solo show by a group of young artists which runs from September 28 to October 23, 2010.
The artists have worked together as a team for 5 years as part of a special project by our gallery.
Each of the following will have a solo show: Tsuneo Tachibana explores what photography is, Michiko Kanzawa considers the body from the view of performance, Yuko Tada who will show her new work called "Sanyushikashikahitobitonozu" was awarded the 10th anniversary Mio Photo Award in 2007, and Akira Mitamura has photographed Hiroshima for the last 10 years.
Each show has a unique theme. Please enjoy each new work by the artists as they explore the theme throughly. Every Friday night we will have a live event featuring each artist. Please join us.

Artist Statements
I think underwater life is more interesting than other forms of living things.
Invertebrate animals as represented by sea anemones are regarded as a middle species between animals and plants.

Since being exhibited at the World Expo in London in 1851 a container filled with water that was named "aquarium" has continued to provide us with much enjoyment.
It is said that the most innovative thing about the aquarium is the ability to control an aquatic environment easily.

The "photogram", which is used to examine chemically sensitive materials as a medium instead of other things.
The photogram is also the ability to control an environment of "light". Photography is the form of light.
The object captured on photographic paper by controlling "light" is a new creature like a zoophyte. It looks like shining insect moving in the deep and black sea.
